It's not often that I get asked to be featured on a blog. 

In fact, it's not often that my blog gets any attention. 

So when Ruby asked me to be a glamourbaby for her blog,  The Glamourbaby Diaries, I thought, why not. 

A spoken word performer, a creative, a fellow Filipina who represents empowerment for women and youth and an advocate for social change. Why not be featured on her blog? There was nothing to lose after all. So I did.

Delicate circles, Oh so bright, Shimmering shells in it’s eye.

 

They say peacock feathers represent pride, nobility and glory.

The feathers are a symbol of incorruptibility and immortality.

They are a symbol of integrity and the beauty that can be achieved when we aim

for a way to better ourselves.

The Greek myth, the goddess Hera placed eyes on its feathers to symbolise 

all-seeing knowledge and the wisdom of the heavens.

The feathers represent the God Lakshmi's qualities of kindness, patience and good fortune.

And the Buddhists believe that the feathers are associated with openness and

that they have the ability to thrive in the face of suffering.

Extremely symbolic, wonderfully beautiful and now they sit dotted around my house to 

remind me of the deep meaning they exude. 

They remind me :

To be proud but not arrogant.

To be dignified but not superior.

To be powerful but not overpowering. 

and  to be strong but not intoxicating.

monday morning reminder

Phenomenal woman, that's me

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.

Everything about this video exudes emotion.

Her voice. Her eyes. Her actions.

The cinematography. The soft lighting. The back lighting. The sun flares.

Everything.

I can watch this over and over again.

Shame it's almost 1 am.

mood swings and roundabouts

I'm at a little roundabout in my life but I've decided to embrace it with all gracefulness, grasp it with all my pride and move forward.  I read these kind words that someone wrote for me and she told me to stand still for one moment, close my eyes, feel the wind and sunlight on my face. To know that in my heart,  this roundabout I have revisited is what I will learn from and carry forward, no matter how frustrating or challenging it is. My heart swelled with content when simple words empowered me and the kind thoughts overcame me. It really is that simple. It really is how it should be.

I just wish that when it rained, it didn't have to pour.

looking forward to being here tomorrow. one night in paradise will make me happy. the smell of the ocean. the feel of sand on my toes. the salt water hardening my hair. the fresh air.
it’s times like this when I love my job.

and when the night closes in tomorrow, I will catch up on my writing. Perhaps begin that fairytale I have been meaning to write. Perhaps write a few pages in my new journal or perhaps I will finally finish this book I have been hanging onto for weeks.

I think tomorrow will be a good day.
