Carne Griffths

It's been awhile since I've posted any sort of inspiration on this blog, to be honest, my pregnant brain hasn't really been feeding off anything. And to be even more honest, everything has gone on standstill. My writing, my own art, my inspirations and everything else I could possibly think of. I'd like to believe babygirl is feeding it all as she lays in my belly, sucking up all possible remnants of my artistic soul.

Perhaps she'll be an artist like me. Perhaps not. All I know is, I can't wait to meet her.

For now though, a little inspiration from Carne Griffiths has left a perfectly sweet taste in my mouth with his amazing pieces created with ink, tea, vodka, brandy ..... a wonderfully mystical collection of work, with his liquid streaks dripping down his paper to create an effect that works perfectly with his whole vision. His abstraction leaves one to only join him on his journey through his creative kingdom and envision his power of creating a path for others to enter through his world.

I'm glad I found him, his art brings me joy in a time that I needed it most.

More on his website, blog and Behance. You can also follow him on twitter @carnegriffiths

Moleskin edition: Javier Pacheco

Inspiration emulating.
(e.x.t.r.e.m.e) Moleskin envy.
Strokes of a creative mind.

Pages from his moleskin that look like pieces that could be hung up my wall.
Javier Pacheco has made me smile this one Tuesday afternoon and has reminded me that
sometimes its not about getting that one piece perfect.
Sometimes it's doodles in a little sketchbook that can be the ideal piece in itself.
Reminds me that being a perfectionist may be part of my procrastination.
And he reminds me that perhaps letting loose once in a while shouldn't be too bad.

art inspiration : anna grosh

Anna Grosh for The Jane Campion Film Festival. A Siberian graphic designer/ illustrator now based in San Francisco, working wonders with that creativity of hers.

Her ink wash and sketched portraits again show my ultimate love for this kind of mixed media. There's just something about how a black and white drawing or sketch sits perfectly amongst the splotches of washed out color.
For more of her work, check her out on illustration served or behance network.

'unscripted conversations'

Two beautiful ladies.

The traffic was horrendous that night but all of it was worth is seeing the happy and
extremely proud faces that were there that night. I know I was one of them. It truly is wonderful to witness dreams come true and when you know how passionate people are about their art, it is then that you understand the depth of their pride.

To my friends, Sarah + Vicky ... for their dreams that came true.
And to a book that truly is worth having on my coffee table.

The amazing "S&V" flower installation courtesy of my cousins over at Holland Blooms who pulled pretty much an all-nighter getting it set with over 7000 pins and ficus leaves.

Now let's try get this video over one hundred thousand hits by January 15th.

" It symbolizes being able to get eyes on something that was built and created from the ground up, by Filipinos, about Filipinos, but for the world. It's our bridge between old and new, Fil-Ams and the motherland, other cultures and ours, our grandparents and our children. It's a representative of Filipino talent, and what we are capable of -- today. On the brink of 2012. With the internet at our disposal, and the world, literally at our fingertips." - Sarah Meier-Albano

your eyes and your heart,
and how to translate that into a photograph."    -Susannah Conway

Perfect timing.

Erin Flannery on my mind.

"...I like to think of my style as illustration, street art
and a hint of hand-stitching all meeting each other
in a dark but lovely alleyway, getting on really well
and deciding to throw themselves all over a raw linen canvas!"
                        -Erin Flannery

Monocrome. Textured. Effortless.

Bold, dark tones with hints of soft muted colours are what Australian Erin Flannery showcases.
With no use of full detail, she speaks the language of form and movement without
the need to say too much. You how they say less is more? Been following her for quite
sometime now, and I fall in love with her work more and more
every time I peek into her little folder in my 'because' files on my computer.

For me, its that simplicity of art that becomes that ideal picture,
that quintessential piece ..... THAT one that you hang up on your wall
and stare at for hours. I know I would.

If this isn't enough eye candy, hop on over to her blog for more.

my vintage kind of tuesday

This London based interior sylist, Victoria Fitchett, shows her creative side when it comes to showcasing her interior styles on her online portfolio. Very vintage, very mismatched but extremely balanced.

The photography is great, the visual creativity showcases textures, layering, and symmetry. For what it's worth, I think I may love the photography just a tad bit more than the styling, but with my new found love for anything rustic, it's coming up to par with the visual love too.

First seen in one of my blog reads at 79 Ideas .

when a child feels free

I don't have any words for this except that I thought the whole video was wonderful.

For a whole thirteen minutes, I sat and watched her paint.

I hope you do too.

when lines become art : Louise Despont

I just love Brooklyn artist Louise Despont's architectural geometry and lines. Her patterns of complex lines and circles, created with graphite on antique paper, are so wonderfully detailed and extremely intricate. Her symmetry is soft and delicate, but in fact also manages to create a softness to her more angular lines.

I love the art deco feel to each piece, but yet what definitely draws me to her work the most is the architectural drawing feel to her artwork.

See more of her work here and here and prepare to fall even more in love.
